We use a specific curriculum when raising our pups, this means that each day of your puppy’s life is thoughtfully planned out from birth until they go home.
We work to expose them to a variety of touches, smells, sounds and activities. This all helps lay the foundation for them to develop into resilient and confident dogs.

Genetic testing covers a lot of things. First and foremost we test to make sure that the handful of breed specific genetic disorders/diseases are not present in our dogs, but on top of that, the company we use screens for over 200 genetic conditions that can be present in a dog.
Another thing genetic testing shows us is if there is any inbreeding present. For obvious reasons, we want to avoid inbreeding, this can be a big issue especially in pure bred dogs.
Finally genetic testing helps us see the genetics that make up their coat colors and textures to help us pair together dogs to obtain specific traits: like a traditional tri-color or a merle. We can even predict whether our dogs will have have curly or straight haired pups.

Every WCD puppy comes with a 2-year health guarantee, we recommend you take your pup to the vet within the first few days for a check, if anything is found wrong, you can return them immediately and we'll work with you on either a refund, or moving you to our next litter.
Although we thoroughly test our breeding dogs, which should ensure the health of your pup, we offer this 2-year health guarantee in case anything shows up.

Meeting your future puppy is a magical time. Its one of our favorite days. However, for the health and safety of all our pups we wait until they’ve had their first round of vaccines before scheduling our puppy pick day where you will get to meet all the pups and pick out your puppy.
Puppies are very vulnerable to a lot of diseases and viruses. We are very diligent in limiting people coming in and out of our homes until the pups have had a little more time to develop their immune systems.
Even when it is finally time to meet the pups, we’ll ask everyone to remove their shoes and use hand sanitizer before entering the puppy room.

One things we’re passionate about at West Coast Doodles is making sure each family gets matched with the puppy that is the best fit for their lifestyle and family.
At 6 weeks old, pups are old enough to go through temperament testing. This helps us communicate each puppy’s strengths and weaknesses, their energy level and what sort of lifestyle each pup is best suited for.
Picking a puppy based on this information helps make sure that families aren’t surprised by what they bring home, and it helps protect our pups from ending up in animal shelters.

One of the things we begin working on as soon as puppies’ eyes are open is potty training. While your pup won’t come home fully potty trained, they will come home knowing the foundations- they know there is a proper place to potty and a place not to potty.
Of course they learn the basics in our homes, which will look different from yours, so you will need to train them where they potty in their new space, but our pups go home knowing the basics.
-
Yes! We believe crate training is a great tool, especially to help each puppy transition successfully in their new homes.
We begin positive exposure to crates around 4 weeks old and build up to pups spending extended time in their crates before they go home. This means that when they get home they won’t be experiencing the crate for the first time, instead it will already be part of their daily routine.

Currently we breed Mini-Bernedoodles that are expected to be between 15-30 pounds full grown, most pups landing between the 20-25 pound range.
Some breeders refer to this size as a micro-mini bernedoodle.

Go home day is an exciting time. We want to set you and your new bernedoodle puppy up for success so we include a few necessities in your go home bag: pee pads, waste bags, a small bag of dog food, a snuggle puppy that smells like their littermates, their favorite chew toy and a bandana.
Your pup also goes home with their health record, up to date vaccines, microchip information to register, basic information on grooming, socialization goals and puppy handling.

If you’ve decided you would like a WCD Bernedoodle puppy, the first step is to send us an application. We’ll schedule a time to talk over the phone and answer any questions you have about our program and give an overview of our process. Then you’ll be sent a link to put in a waitlist deposit.
Once we receive your $500 non-refundable deposit, we will let you know what order you are on the waitlist. We allow people to choose their puppy in the order that we receive their deposit. So if you are the third person to place a deposit, you will be third pick on puppy pick day.

Plenty of people travel a long distance to bring home their puppy. We can arrange a video call meeting where you can meet all the puppies virtually and make your choice this way.
-
The weekend following pup’s vaccines and temperament testing we schedule a puppy pick day. We usually have this date planned a month in advance to help families plan accordingly.
This is an open house style meeting. We set aside 2-3 hours for families to come and interact with all of the puppies. We’re available to answer any questions you have about the temperament questions or personalities.
Some families know immediately which puppy they want. Some need a few hours to think it over.
Families choose their puppies in the order we receive waitlist deposits. You will know what number pick you are as soon as you submit your deposit.
